In the first part of the 1900's, Epiphone was among the small number of companies to take jazz music seriously and they launched the Sheraton, a hollowbody guitar with f-holes that made it possible for guitarists to play as loudly as they wanted without the feedback they were obtaining with other electric guitars. Fast-forward to 2002 with the launch of the Epiphone Elitist Sheraton guitar and Epiphone did the impossible. They made the Sheraton even better.

Eventually the original Epiphone Sheraton guitar was supplanted in popularity by the Gibson ES-355 that was also launched in nineteen thirty, although there were many popular jazz guitarists who still sang it's praises. However the Sheraton was finally discontinued in 1970 and then be launched once again in the late '80s. The Epiphone Sheraton II was introduced in 1994 as a less costly model designed to appeal to a lot more people. And ultimately, the Elitist series was born in 2003 as a middle of the road offering that could appeal to the cost conscious and the pricey Gibson fans.

Each guitar manufacturer has a semi-hollowbody model available nowadays but you can't beat the traditional body design of the Sheraton. And the Elitist variation brings fashion and quality to new heights. It's definitely an instrument made for the expert player.

You are going to find blues and rock players with a variety of semi-hollowbodies but the Epiphone Elitist Sheraton guitar seems designed for jazz. In fact the abalone and mother-of-pearl inlays on their own seem to shout "Play Jazz!"
